China has reportedly suspended approval for many private
Chinese companies to list on overseas stock markets,
according to the South China Morning Post.

The report said that only initial public offerings worth more than
US$ 1 billion (S$1.54 billion) would get approval for overseas listings.

The move, which is aimed at promoting the Shanghai exchange,
has spooked market players here as most of the new listings on the
Singapore Stock Exchange are from China.
